Greg Lynn FORM has been at the cutting edge of design in the field of architecture when comes --to the use of computer-aided design. The projects, publications, teachings and writings associate-d with the office have been influential in the acceptance and use of advanced technology for desi-gn and fabrication. Greg Lynn FORM was established in 1994 in Iloboken , NJ and relocated to --Venice , California in 1998 to take advantage of the knowledge and technology resources in both the manufacturing and entertainment industries of Southern California . The office is a design --forward team that combines a unique specialization in exotic form and a creative ease and expe-rtise with cutting edge design, manufacturing and construction techniques germane to the aero-nautic, automobile and film industries of Southern California . The office is especially experienc-ed in collaborative partnerships on international projects ranging from boutique interiors to pu-blic housing. Most recently the office collaborated with 5 well known design firms in a team call-ed United Architects and submitted one of the t proposals for the World Trade center competitio-n. Greg Lynn is the principal of Greg Lynn FORM and has taught throughout the United States and Europe Because of his early combination of degrees in philosophy and architecture he has been involved in combining the realities of design and construction with the speculative: theoretical and experimental potentials of writing and teaching. Before establishing his own firm, he worked f-our years in the office of Peter Eisenman where he was the principal project designer on both a h-igh technology laboratory at the Carnegie Mellon Research Institute and on a forty million dolla-r university building complex for the School of Design , Art, Architecture and Planning at the-- University of Cincinnati . In addition to leading his design practice, he has taught and lectured-- around the world as the Professor of Spatial Conception and Exploration at the ETH (Swiss Feder-al Institute of Technology) in Zurich and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia Univers-ity . In the fall of 2002 he became a Master Professor at the "Angewandte" in Vienna , Austria .-- In addition, he is presently a Studio Professor at UCLA in Los Angeles and the Davenport Professo-r at Yale University . His architectural designs have received numerous awards and have been -exhibited in both architecture and art museums including the 2000 Venice Biennale of Archite-cture where his work was represented in the U.S. , Austrian and Italian Pavilions. His work has been exhibited internationally in both architecture and art museums and galleries, including c-ollaborations with the painter Fabian Marcaccio for "The Tingler" at the Secession Museum in Vi-enna and "The Predator" at the Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio, In January of this year (200-3), Greg Lynn curated an exhibit at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia called "In-tricacy" where he gathered a group of architects & artists that share in their work a myopic rigo-r and special attention to technical innovation in their respective fields. He writes and lectures widely on architectural design and theory and is the author of Folds, Bodies and blobs; Collected Essays, Animate Form and the forthcoming Embryological House. He graduated from Miami Un-iversity of Ohio with degrees in both architecture (Bachelor of Environmental Design) and philo-sophy (Bachelor of Philosophy) and later from Princeton University where he received a gradua-te degree in architecture (Master of Architecture).
